You have to understand how to manage yourself personally and professionally.

Every day you should ask questions like, How effective I am with my job? What do I want to be aware when I make mistakes? You need to take accountability for your actions and know your goals. To figure out your problems and be able to show them. You must learn how to develop the foundations of self-management.

  1. Learn how to build a foundation of character, integrity, values, trust and influence people. This is not an overnight solution for you because it takes years to develop a consistent image and get people to perceive you as a professional in your field.
  2. Help other people to get what they want. Zig Ziglar used this statement for over fifty years and it works because this will help get things done through people.
  3. Start making choices that will decide your success. It is not easy to be positive in a negative situation. Whatever you do just see the good side of it. Every decision will determine what you will be tomorrow.
  4. A sense of humor. You don’t need to laugh all the time. A simple touch of humor can change an attitude for yourself or someone who needs it more to brighten up their day.
  5. Be involve on bigger goals and purpose. It is important to cooperate with your boss and the company to immerse yourself within their systems. This will cause equal success to both. Be accountable for the tasks assigned to you.
  6. Action speaks louder than words. Get things right. Practice and self-reflection can produce constructive feedback about your accomplishments. Motivate yourself to do more and talk less.
  7. Establish your expectations about your performance level. Know your abilities and skills to expect the kind of training you need to strengthen your ability.
  8. Train yourself. Getting the right education will help you reach your goals. The solution is to get the kind of training that will not just help you level up on your position. To foster the weak areas where you need it the most.

What you need to know is how to improve your business plan as an important part in making your success. The purpose is to prepare you before starting your own virtual business.

Your imagination has the ability to form a mental image that is perceived by the five senses and your feelings. Your mind can develop the ability to think about the past, present and the future. What does this mean for you? It means it can help you make a mind map of what type and kind of business you want to build and grow. It will give you a different perspective rather than comply with the business plan.

The purpose of this exercise is to improve your self-perception and discover a part of yourself that you can use to your advantage. What is important is your attitude towards your success. Consider taking a few minutes to develop this power and learn how to work with it. Find a quiet place, get a piece of paper and answer the questions.

The first five questions to ask:

1.) What inspires you today?

2.) What drives you to do the things you like every day?

3.) Do you like routine work? Why?

4.) What would be your dream daily schedule?

5.) What are your passions? Select one and explain why.

The next five questions ask about your business.

6.) What do you do not like about being a boss of your own business?

7.) Do you have a niche? If Yes, describe your niche. If No, list your possible business niche.

8.) How do you view success within your business?

9.) Who is your target market?

10.) What is your purpose to build your business?

The last question asks you about your direction. Here I am encouraging you to create a mind map.

11.) Create a mind map of how should your business model run. Use this free tool.

With the right questions and mindset, your business plan can go a long way. Never forget that any business plan needs to adapt to certain circumstances. Like knowing your competition and filling the need. One last advice, do your research before spending any money.

Let us dig deeper and find reasons you become a virtual assistant. Not everybody can handle learning multiple skills. The right experience takes more than passion and commitment. You have reasons why you want to become one. You need a job, money and a way to balance your work, family and personal  life. Or you cannot handle working with people who are into office politics. Part of the result are the single parents and single women who made up at least 4%. Their number one reason is to make time for everything they do.
  2. Getting rid of distractions of commuting  and travelling long hours to work.
  3. Make more money as compared to a 9 to 5 job which offers a fix or hourly income in pesos.
  4. Travel more.
  5. Be in control of expenses.
  6. For medical reasons
  7. For health reasons
  8. Have more opportunities and skills to grow.
  9. Be more flexible in managing time and other business opportunities.
  10. Explore the career options who are in the administrative and secretarial field.

Find the purpose to be a part of the virtual community that helps you to excel in your niche. It is not all about money. It takes passion and commitment to be able to find the resources you need. You also need to connect with the community for guidance and directions. Use the internet resources to your advantage and never stop learning.

  1. Facebook – You can open a page for business, store by Shopify and use Facebook marketing tools and analytics.
  2. Pinterest – With such growth of users and the demand of buyable pins (since holidays are near). This social media site captured my attention with its amazing image based pins.
  3. LinkedIn – This site offers professional network connections where you can find a job that is related to your field.
  4. Twitter – Marketing using Twitter is diverse. You can post text and image based ads right away.
  5. Google Plus – I like Google plus because Google have a lot of applications and programs you can use. Like Blogger, Gmail, Google Analytics, Google Keyword Tool, Google Drive, Google documents and more. It is suitable for webtrepreneurs who wants to have one programs with lots of added benefits.
  6. Instagram – You can post an image or a video. Some business owners manage to use Instagram to their own advantage by selling their products using the marketing tools.

  8. Youtube – I place this 8th because I have not tried to make my own videos (soon). Create and use videos for personal or business use.

  10. Reddit – You can submit content, connect with people, market your business or you are looking for answers to specific topics. This site if for you.

Always do your research before you spend your money.

SFI President Gery Carson’s 20 Rules to Business Success and I want to share with you. Since it provides me the best insight that I need to focus and the ideas to help me succeed. Business Success is not just by reading and saying it. You have to take action. Get it done and start planning.

Here are his tips to success that you can follow:

1. Treat your business…like a business! 

2. DO something to grow your business every day. Do small goals everyday and keep the momentum going. 

3. Lead by example. 

4. Work with the workers. Listen to your workers and get to know about them.

5. YOU succeed only if THEY succeed. This is an employee and employer business relationship that if you help them succeed. They will help you succeed in your business. 

6. YOU make it happen, no one else. Just do it. 

7. Leaders are readers. Do not assume you know everything. An example is to read a book about marketing. If you do not how to market your business. Learn all you can about the applicable marketing strategies on your business. 

8. Open your eyes to your potential. A business opportunity, idea or strategy are good foundations for a successful business.

9. Set goals…and publish them!

10. Have a plan (a realistic plan).

11. Winning starts with beginning.

12. Focus.

13. Send praise down (and criticism up).

14. Don’t quit.
